ParaSwInclusion

ParaSwInclusion

The ParaSwInclusion project aims to promote social inclusion and integration of individuals with disabilities through a series of activities and events focused on para swimming. The main objective of the project is to bring together individuals with disabilities and non-disabled individuals to organize and participate in the regional para swimming contest, Sarajevo Open, and promote positive values through para swimming. The contest will showcase the achievements and capabilities of individuals with disabilities and break down social barriers and prejudices towards disability.

The project includes five work packages (WPs), each focusing on a different aspect of the contest organization, namely WP1 - project management and coordination; WP2 - preparatory activities: benchmarking of registered para swimmers in the countries of the WB; WP3 - the development of skills needed to improve the social involvement of disadvantaged groups in para sports; WP4 - organization of the Sarajevo Open contest; and WP5 - dissemination and exploitation of project activities and outcomes, including the organization of a final symposium to present and discuss the project results.

The project will benefit individuals with disabilities, including para swimmers, as well as educators, coaches, referees, and other stakeholders in the field of Paralympic sports in the Western Balkan countries. The expected results of the project include an increased number of individuals with disabilities participating in para swimming, improved education related to para swimming, better training programs and facilities, improved data access and needs analysis, greater social awareness, understanding of disability and social inclusion, as well as promotion of positive values through sport and inclusion of individuals with disabilities in Paralympic swimming through joint competition of individuals with and without disabilities.
