On August 24, 2026, we held a productive online meeting with the respected consortium of our project, CIVIC. Bringing together project coordinators and all partner representatives, the virtual gathering served as a vital platform to align our collective efforts, review past milestones, and map out the next steps for our regional initiatives.
CIVIC, which stands for “Crafting Innovative Virtual Interactions for Civic Competences,” is dedicated to enhancing civic competences across the Western Balkans, with a specific focus on Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities inherent to this region, our project proposal is firmly centered around key priorities that are crucial for sustainable development, democratic participation, and youth empowerment.
During today’s session, participants engaged in comprehensive discussions to report on what has been accomplished previously and to evaluate our progress to date. We also carefully outlined our upcoming activities, ensuring that all partner organizations share a unified vision and clear operational strategy for the coming months. To tackle these vital topics effectively, we are planning a series of structured virtual exchanges designed to connect participants and foster meaningful cross-border dialogue.
As we continue to build momentum through collaboration, our team remains deeply committed to strengthening civic engagement across the region. We are very eager to share more details about our upcoming initiatives and project developments with you soon as we work together toward a more connected future.

CIVIC: “Crafting Innovative Virtual Interactions for Civic Competences” aims to enhance civic competences in the Western Balkans, specifically focusing on Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia. By focusing on the development of civic competences, particularly through joint initiatives involving young people from both the EU and the Western Balkans countries, we can contribute significantly to the region’s progress.
Our proposed curriculum addresses various aspects of civic competencies, including:
Understanding civic participation in the public sphere
Emphasizing the importance of the rule of law
Promoting cooperation and social cohesion through economic partnerships
Encouraging active engagement in social and political processes
Expected results:
Enhanced understanding of the learners about the topic of active citizenship.
Academic and administrative staff of HEIs with increased sensitivity to equality and resilience towards their peers and their learners.
Improved skills of learners of intercultural dialogue and mutual respect.
Material designed and delivered for the online courses for students.
An innovative mechanism has been developed for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of the virtual exchange.
