BRAVO BiH

I did not expect any less of our organisers and hosts for our trip in Segovia, Spain. “Roots of change” was the name of our project, and the change this time that we were aiming for was a better change for the environment and our attitude towards a greener future. Through the many activities, some prepared by the hosts and some as tasks from the participants, we learned together about different methods of acting greener.

Besides the educational aspect, the cultural part was an important part of the project. Through the cultural nights, all prepared with love and patriotism by their countries, we learned about their life, history and traditions.

This project impacted me on many levels. After it i felt more open towards people and left wanting to come back. – Bakir Destanović

Applying for this Erasmus+ project was one of the best decisions I have ever made. As it was my first Erasmus experience, I did not really know what to expect, but from the moment I arrived in Spain, I felt that it would be something special.

Spain was a wonderful host country, and I enjoyed every part of the experience, from the activities and cultural evenings to simply talking and laughing together. Through the project, we also explored sustainability, environmental awareness and how our everyday choices contribute to positive change.

What made this Erasmus experience truly special were the people I met and the small moments we shared. I know that from years now, phrases like “project juice”, “falaa ti”, and “du bist gut genug” will immediately bring me back to Spain and make me smile. They may sound like simple inside jokes to others, but for us they represent so many memories, conversations, and moments of laughter. Even though the project lasted only a short time, the friendships and connections we created made it feel incredibly meaningful. I will always carry these memories with me, and the people who made this experience so special will always have a place in my heart. – Nedžla Šehović

Being the group leader for the Bosnia and Herzegovina team at “Roots of Change” in Segovia, Spain, gave me a chance to experience an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange from a different perspective. I was there to support our group, and one of the best parts of that role was seeing everyone grow more comfortable sharing their ideas and getting to know people from other countries.

During the workshops, we talked about pollution, recycling and the circular economy. What made those conversations interesting for me was hearing how differently people dealt with the same issues back home. Something as simple as comparing what we do with a plastic bottle after using it opened up a conversation about which habits we can change ourselves and how much depends on what’s available in our communities. The cultural evenings brought us together in a different way. I was proud to see our team share a bit of Bosnia and Herzegovina and bring that same curiosity to what everyone else shared with us.

Some of my favourite moments happened between activities, when people stayed around to talk and laugh together. Seeing those friendships take shape was one of the most rewarding parts of being a group leader. I came home proud of our team and grateful that I got to share the experience with them. – Kenan Junuzović

This July, I had the incredible chance to take part in “Roots of Change,” an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange held in Segovia, Spain, bringing together 50 young people from 10 countries around the theme of sustainability and environmental protection. One of the highlights was a day trip to the city of Segovia itself, walking beneath its incredible Roman aqueduct and getting a real sense of the region’s history.

Over ten days, we dove into workshops on pollution, water, the circular economy, sustainable development and even how to spot fake news, but honestly, the biggest lessons came from each other. Comparing how differently every country deals with issues like recycling or plastic use completely shifted my perspective and made me want to change some habits back home.

What stuck with me most were the National Evenings, where each country shared its history, food, music and dance for just an hour, and somehow that was enough to make a whole culture feel close and real. This was genuinely one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had, and I honestly regret not going on more exchanges like this sooner. I’m coming back with new friends across Europe and a much bigger sense of how connected we all really are. – Azra Osmanbegović
