“Participating in the Youth4Values Training Course in Athens was an amazing experience that broadened my perspective on democracy, active citizenship, and political participation. Over the course of seven days, I had the opportunity to engage with inspiring individuals from different countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Spain and Greece; each bringing unique perspectives and experiences to the discussions. Through workshops, group discussions, and practical activities, I developed critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills—valuable tools for my personal and professional growth. The training course sessions were both highly interactive and offered a lot of new knowledge.

We explored the historical evolution of democracy, analyzed key European political documents, and debated the importance of civic engagement in decision-making processes. This exchange did not only offer the educational aspect, it was also a cultural exchange and networking opportunity. I met a lot of like-minded young people passionate about making positive change and shaping the future of Europe. I also got to know their cultures and learned more about their countries. Last, but not least, we got the chance to explore Athens. The birthplace of democracy. City with rich history and vibrant atmosphere. Exploring the city, visiting historical sites, and immersing myself in Greek culture added another layer of depth to this experience” – Hena Šehović

“Athens, the birthplace of democracy, where once philosophers debated under the Acropolis, now welcomed a new generation of thinkers and changemakers, us. From February 2nd to 9th, I stood among them, a participant from Bosnia and Herzegovina, carrying with me the weight of my country’s complex political system and the hope for its full democratic future. The Youth4Values training course wasn’t just another project, but an experience woven from debates, laughter, and moments of realization. Each day, we didn’t just learn about democracy, we lived it. We built model governments, negotiated new youth policies, and challenged each other’s perspectives, pushing the boundaries of what we thought we knew. The sessions weren’t abstract theories confined to textbooks but tools we could wield in our communities.

We saw firsthand that democracy isn’t only about discussions in meeting rooms, it’s also about human connection. Between workshops, we found time to share pieces of ourselves, our cultures, struggles, and dreams. Energizers turned into inside jokes, late-night conversations became seeds of future collaborations, and Athens, with its vibrant streets and endless history, became our backdrop for learning and friendship. What struck me most was the reminder that democracy isn’t just something written in constitutions, it’s a living, breathing force shaped by those who dare to participate. As a young person from Bosnia and Herzegovina, where civic engagement often feels like shouting into the void, this training rekindled something in me, the belief that our voices matter and that change begins not in grand revolutions but in small, determined actions. I left Athens with more than knowledge, but a network of like-minded individuals, a renewed sense of purpose, and the undeniable realization that democracy is only as strong as those willing to fight for it” – Maria Perojević

“My time at the Youth4Values training in Athens was truly impactful. I went there hoping to learn more about active citizenship, and I left with so much more. The program was filled with engaging activities that helped me understand the importance of youth participation in our communities and the broader political scene. We explored how democracy works at a local level and how our voices can make a difference. Meeting young people from diverse European regions was a highlight, broadening my perspective and fostering intercultural understanding. The course also strengthened my critical thinking and teamwork skills, which are valuable in many aspects of life. I now feel empowered and motivated to be a more active and informed citizen. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to make a positive impact and can not wait for the next stages of the project.” – Aldin Jahić
