On May 20th, 2026, representatives of academia, healthcare, technology, and education gathered at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Sarajevo for the hybrid event “Step into AHEDIS: Project Showcase and Promotion”.
The event brought together experts, researchers, educators, and professionals to explore how digital technologies and artificial intelligence are transforming modern healthcare education and lifelong learning.
Implemented within the framework of the AHEDIS project, co-funded by the European Union, the event served as an important platform for presenting the project’s vision, objectives, and first insights into the future of digitally supported education in the biomedical and healthcare sectors.
The program officially opened with welcoming remarks, followed by a detailed presentation of the AHEDIS project delivered by Prof. Dr. Alisa Elezović, Project Coordinator. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about the project’s mission of improving teaching methodologies through the integration of modern digital tools, innovative pedagogical approaches, and smart technologies in higher education and lifelong learning programs.
❝ One of the key segments of the event focused on the results of the needs analysis conducted within the project.❞
Through the session “What the Data Tells Us: Insights from the Needs Analysis”, participants were introduced to the current challenges and opportunities related to digital transformation in healthcare education. The discussion highlighted the growing need for adaptive learning models, improved digital competencies, and stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
The event also featured several expert-led presentations addressing the role of artificial intelligence and immersive technologies in education and healthcare. Prof. Dr. Ralf Seepold presented innovative perspectives on the implementation of artificial intelligence in healthcare systems, emphasizing both the opportunities and challenges that accompany rapid technological advancement in biomedical applications.
Another notable session explored the integration of audiovisual and extended reality technologies in modern lectures and educational environments. Through practical examples and innovative approaches, participants gained insight into how immersive digital experiences can improve student engagement, understanding, and accessibility within educational processes.
The final part of the event focused on examples of good practice in implementing AI supported pedagogical methods in modern education. Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss future possibilities, and reflect on how digital transformation can contribute to more inclusive, efficient, and accessible learning environments.
❝ Beyond the educational component, the event created valuable networking opportunities for professionals from different sectors, encouraging interdisciplinary cooperation and future partnerships. ❞
By bringing together experts from healthcare, education, and technology, the AHEDIS Project Showcase and Promotion event reaffirmed the importance of innovation, collaboration, and digital readiness in shaping the future of healthcare education.
