BRAVO BiH

Gender equality in sports remains a pressing issue, particularly in leadership roles and the transition from athlete to coach or sports professional. Women currently hold only 14% of decision-making positions in sports federations across the EU, highlighting the need for targeted initiatives to bridge this gap.

Aligned with key EU policies, such as the European Commission’s 2022 Recommendations and Action Plan on Gender Equality in Sport and the EU Work Plan for Sport (2021-2024), the GENDERWISE project contributes to fostering a more inclusive and equitable sports environment.

To achieve this, research is essential. Gathering data through surveys will help shape effective policies and initiatives, ensuring that future programs address the real needs of female athletes and sports professionals.

Curious? You can find the survey here:

Why Is the Survey Important?

Understanding gender disparities in sports requires accurate and comprehensive data. The survey will provide valuable insights into the experiences of former athletes who are now working in sports-related careers, helping to identify barriers to leadership and professional development.

This research is not just about collecting data, it will drive meaningful change. The findings will be used to develop six MOOC educational modules focused on coaching and leadership skills.

Why Are We Conducting This Survey?

The survey is designed to assess gender equality issues in sports, with a focus on dual careers—helping young female athletes balance sports with education and professional aspirations.

By gathering insights from female athletes, mentors, coaches, and sports professionals, the survey aims to:

  • Identify the challenges female athletes face in transitioning into leadership roles.
  • Understand mentors’ perspectives on supporting gender equality in sports.
  • Shape the development of a comprehensive learning platform tailored to the needs of young female athletes.

Additionally, interviews will be conducted with sportswomen, former athletes, and professionals in leadership positions to refine the content of the module program. Businesses and sports organizations that have successfully implemented gender-equal and sustainable practices will also be involved, ensuring that the Enhancing Social Responsibility in Sports Business module reflects real-world success stories.

Who Is the Survey For?

The survey is designed for young female athletes aged 14 to 26 who aspire to build careers in coaching, leadership, and sports management, as well as those engaged in MOOC educational programs and peer-to-peer mentorship. Additionally, we are looking for young female athletes with an interest in technology and innovation within sports.

This research aims to bring together different perspectives to create a support system that benefits young female athletes, mentors, and the sports community as a whole.

What Are We Trying to Achieve?

By conducting this research, the GENDERWISE project aims to:

  • Develop a comprehensive support system for young female athletes.
  • Create 6 MOOC modules for online education, covering leadership and coaching skills.
  • Establish a virtual mentorship network to connect experienced mentors with young athletes.
  • Promote gender equality in sports careers and leadership roles.

Through these efforts, the project seeks to empower young women to thrive in sports and leadership, while also fostering a more balanced and inclusive sports industry.

How Can You Help?

Your participation in this survey is crucial in shaping the future of gender equality in sports. Here’s how you can contribute:

  • Complete the survey if you are a young female athlete.
  • Share the survey with relevant sports communities and organizations.
  • Encourage others to participate and support gender equality in sports.

The survey is in Bosnian and targets young female athletes from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Your input will directly influence policies, training programs, and mentorship opportunities that benefit young female athletes across Europe.

Conclusion

Gender equality in sports is a shared responsibility, and your voice matters. By taking part in this survey, you will help create better opportunities for young female athletes, ensuring they have access to the mentorship, education, and support needed to succeed in both sports and leadership. Join us in making a difference! Take the survey today and be part of the change.
