Oriel was founded in 2017 and its main office is in the province of Verona, Italy.
Oriel is an Italian non-profit organisation active in youth work, non-formal education, peacebuilding, and international cooperation. Its mission is to promote peace, dialogue, participation, and cooperation through inclusive and transformative educational experiences, contributing to more supportive, open, and peaceful communities. Oriel provides international Training Courses and Youth Exchanges within the Erasmus+ programme and works in the development and management of European projects funded through Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps, International Civic Service, and other European funding programmes.
At local level, Oriel cooperates with associations, youth-led spaces, and high schools, fostering cross-sectoral cooperation with the Municipalities of Verona and Villafranca di Verona, as well as with other public-sector actors. Through its activities, Oriel works towards a vision of a society in which education, international cooperation, nonviolence, and community life strengthen dialogue between people and communities, encourage free expression and active participation, and contribute to building lasting and peaceful relationships.
We are also committed to provide volunteering opportunities to our members among our network of partner organizations for the development of useful knowledge, skills and attitudes in different fields of expertise, using non-formal education and adopting an intersectional and inclusive approach to education.
Our Mission
Oriel’s mission is to promote peace, dialogue, and international cooperation through education, particularly by providing inclusive and transformative non-formal education experiences that foster personal growth, participation, and the free expression of every individual.
Oriel is committed to building vibrant, supportive, and learning-oriented communities by encouraging collaboration between local and international organisations and promoting a culture based on nonviolence, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence. Within this commitment, Oriel works to make education accessible and inclusive, with particular attention to people and groups in vulnerable situations, safeguarding their dignity, rights, and freedoms and creating safe spaces for expression and participation, including for those experiencing situations of conflict or risk.
Through its projects, Oriel also contributes to addressing the root causes of inequality and combating all forms of discrimination, exclusion, violence, and abuse of power, while promoting a more just, inclusive, and peaceful society.
