About the Project
Eurofound estimates a loss of EU economies to €142 billion/year in benefits and foregone earnings and taxes due to NEETs and a significant impact on the economic and social development of the EU. With the situation of youth aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic effects, NEET rates and further economic loss grew across the EU, and 9 Member States record NEET rates above the EU average of 16.4%.
Social disengagement dramatically affects young people’s well-being, with long-term impacts, as it decreases overall life satisfaction and increases the risk of social exclusion while declining optimism about the future.
Our project answers the societal challenge of high rates of NEET youngsters in Romania, EU, and EaP due to the few attractive opportunities for their development, lack of easily accessible information about the opportunities, and low competences of youth workers in promoting such development opportunities, combined with the negative perception of the ‘alternative’ inclusion/development programs.
Project Objectives
Therefore, we aim at increasing social inclusion chances and providing equal opportunities for NEET youngsters from the EU, WB and EaP region, through:
- Improving the competences of 30 youth workers’ in developing efficient programs by using Erasmus+ and ESC as tools for the inclusion/integration of NEET youth.
- Promoting NEETs inclusion and youth opportunities among local youngsters by learning how to write project applications.
- Enhancing the capacity of 10 NGOs to empower youth in becoming active citizens in their local communities by developing common international projects.
Profile of the Participant
- Youth workers aged 18+ from: EU Countries, Iceland, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine.
- Long-term volunteers, social workers, educators, social pedagogues, community development facilitators, counsellors, trainers, facilitators, and other related staff implementing non-formal activities, who are actively involved in promoting NEETs inclusion and youth opportunities.
- Interested in writing Erasmus+ projects within NGOs;
- Proven experience associated with youth work;
- Able to use the newly gained competences on future projects;
- Able to speak English at least at a conversational level.
Daily Schedule
- Day 1: Project opening, getting to know each other and introduction to Youthpass. Formal and Non formal education. Group-building activities. Daily evaluation.
- Day 2: We will start by calibrating our understanding of the NEET youth is, and get a better understanding of the NEET situation in different countries and different inclusion policies. Daily evaluation.
- Day 3: We will go deeper into discussing social issues through the ENTER game, the NEETs assessment and support system. We’ll discuss about the Problem Tree methodology, used for project writing. Study visit, understanding the local realities when it comes to NEET youth.
- Day 5: We will start learning and discussing project planning and writing, going through each step (planning, design, budgeting, etc).
- Day 6: We will be working on Erasmus+ project writing and application.
- Day 7: Results from project initiatives. Dissemination. Final evaluation. ‘From Diary to Certificate: Youthpass’. Youthpass ceremony and project’s closing.
