MEDIActive Youth

Our two previous and one ongoing E+ projects successfully launched a global initiative in improving media literacy. By now, capacities of 28 youth NGO’s from Europe, Latin America and Africa have been raised, a Transnational Youth Magazine (TYM), e-magazine for youth policy has been launched, and online courses in media literacy and activism have been created. The overall objective of this two-years Project is to continue with building capacities of youth NGOs globally and with developing new high-quality open education resources (OER) in the field of media/news literacy. Particular attention is given here to the Balkans within the broader European context, and this project will enable it to join the MEDIActive youth initiative, but also to strengthen the dialogue and post-conflict reconciliation in this region.

“Participating in the MEDIAcitve Youth training was a great experience, particularly due to the opportunity to collaborate with participants from the rest of the Western Balkan countries. The workshops were excellent, perfectly tailored to teach us new tactics and methods of information control and writing, with organizers who were always supportive and accessible, especially when we needed assistance in writing our own articles.”

New project alert – MediActive Youth: Join us on the journey of empowering minds!

New project alert – MediActive Youth: Join us on the journey of empowering minds!

In a world where the role of media has been so great that the term ‘mediacracy’ (the rule of media) has been frequently used to describe it, the need for media and news literacy and media activism of young people and youth NGOs is apparent. The media are not simple transmitters, but crucial creators of messages and have a pivotal role in creating and swaying public opinion.
