“Taking part in the Looking for Nemo Erasmus+ Training Course has been an incredible and enriching experience. I had the opportunity to spend a week in Castelletto di Cuggiono, a charming little town in Northern Italy, surrounded by its beautiful nature and the warm hospitality of its locals.
Through a variety of peer learning activities and case studies, I was equipped with valuable tools and knowledge to recognize the early signs of marginalization and vulnerability within my community. This training has helped me better understand how to address social exclusion and contribute to the prevention of radicalization.
This experience had a profound impact on me, as it allowed me to connect with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and listen to their unique perspectives. Collaborating and sharing stories with them broadened my understanding of how social exclusion and radicalization manifest in different contexts, and helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Collaborating with people from different cultural and professional backgrounds showed me the power of collective learning and mutual respect in tackling complex issues like social exclusion and radicalization. This experience inspired me to continue fostering inclusion, empathy, and dialogue within my community and future professional endeavors.” – Esma Gogić
“Earlier this October, I got the amazing chance to join the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Looking for Nemo” . During the week, we explored how to build safer and more inclusive communities by fostering belonging and empathy among young people. Through workshops, creative activities, and honest discussions, I learned how powerful it can be to simply listen, connect, and understand one another and how these small actions can help prevent exclusion and extremism.Working with participants from all over Europe was truly inspiring. Every day brought new perspectives, laughter, and teamwork, reminding me how much we can learn from each other when we are open and curious.
This experience gave me a deeper sense of unity. I left Italy with new friendships, stronger awareness, and motivation to keep spreading empathy and understanding in my community. ” – Selma Salkić
““Looking for Nemo” was my first Erasmus+ project. When I applied, I felt both nervous and confident. I was aware that I would be stepping outside of my comfort zone, but I also trusted my abilities, knowledge, and skills to make a meaningful contribution to the program.
This experience was truly unique. Through team quests, interactive games, and non-formal teaching methods, we explored complex and sensitive topics such as the recognition of manipulation, extremist ideologies, marginalization, and strategies for preventing these phenomena.
In my opinion, the most effective ways to address such issues include education in emotional intelligence, empathy, effective communication, the ability to recognize early warning signs, and fostering social inclusion. The fact that we managed to cover all of these areas in just a few days is remarkable.
Additionally, the opportunity to meet people from different cultural backgrounds, enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, and explore the forests and charming streets surrounding Lake Como made this experience truly unforgettable. ” – Ajla Džinić
