In this modern society, technology has become an essential thing without which a modern man cannot function. Every individual uses technology devices daily. It is one of the revolutions that has developed the fastest and since its appearance, it has been in a constant evolution. Every day we see innovations in the world of technology. Many things that seemed unimaginable to us, today are managed to achieve thanks to technology.
Furthermore, all these inventions would be useless without the people who use them. As a well-known saying that the future lies on young people and that they have strength, and vision, and can bring about changes, this is a truly visible and unforgivable fact today. Youth activism is increasingly present in modern society, and over time it will surely become an indispensable factor. With this number of possibilities that technology makes available and a lot of tools and information, it is not difficult to do something; it is only necessary to use it all adequately.
Through creative digital strategies and technological tools, young activists are crossing borders and making a significant impact, starting from the local and even reaching the global level. As far as the digital revolution is concerned, mobile apps have certainly achieved the greatest success. They are becoming an essential tool for young people who want to help bring about positive change in their communities. These innovative applications not only facilitate organization but also raise awareness of key social issues. Today there are applications for all possible needs that young people use most smartly. These are, for instance, applications that enable launching online campaigns and signing digital petitions. Also, through social networks, it is possible to reach as many people as possible, and because of that is easy to spread messages and invitations to some social events. However, it should be pointed up that social networks are not only a space for dialogue and sharing images; they have also become a key channel for youth activism.
Social networks and digital platforms have become a powerful tool that allows individuals to fight for their rights and express their opinions. Instagram and TikTok campaigns go viral quickly. Hashtags like #PravdaZaDavida, #BlackLivesMatter have become symbols of the fight for justice, encouraging young people to engage in activities that truly change society. About hate speech through the media, activism can be very visible and influential, especially on social networks that are accessible to almost everyone. Activism also includes creating certain groups, creating various online petitions, starting certain actions, writing and reading blogs, receiving information and spreading messages. In this way, the activists try to achieve greater visibility of their activities and get the necessary support for the realization of their activities and goals. All of these are tools that can be used to encourage the public to get involved and react to the harmfulness of hate speech.
Youth activism, just like technological innovation, gradually adapts to the social environment. It works through creative approaches such as mobile applications, social networks, artificial intelligence… Today, it is necessary to use new technologies to achieve our goals and stay abreast of the times and developments. Technology takes it all to a new level and proves that the future of activism is in digital hands.
More about "BDC" project:
“Becoming Digitally Conscious” is a Capacity Building project targeted at the promotion of healthy digital habits among young people (between 18 and 25 years old) living in the European and Western Balkans area. The goal is to make this group aware of the potential dangers of making excessive use of digital devices, such as psychological disorders (e.g., eating disorders and depression). Considering that virtual reality has become an essential part of young people’s lives (especially during the covid-19 pandemic to study or socialize, which before they did mainly offline), we believe it is important to train them on how to integrate digital devices in a healthy and conscious way. Through the education of youth workers, the project will contribute to increasing the quality, innovation, and recognition of youth work, supporting the sharing of methods to address the opportunities and implications of digitalization. Of course, it is as well related to “Addressing digital transformation through the development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity” because all major social changes imply some areas of risk that need to be reflected upon to mitigate the issues created (in this case digital addiction).
