BRAVO BiH

Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables in different colors every day is one of the best things we can do for our health. This idea is often called “eating the rainbow.” Each color in food represents different vitamins, minerals, and natural plant compounds that help our body in unique ways. Including seven colors in your meals each day can support your organs, improve your mood, and make your immune system stronger.

Red fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, strawberries, watermelon, red peppers, and cherries are rich in natural substances like lycopene and anthocyanins. These nutrients help protect the heart, improve blood circulation, and lower the risk of certain diseases.

Orange foods like carrots, oranges, sweet potatoes, mangoes, and pumpkins are full of beta-carotene, which the body changes into vitamin A. This is very helpful for keeping our eyes healthy, making our skin glow, and keeping our immune system strong.

Yellow foods such as bananas, corn, yellow peppers, and pineapple give us energy and support digestion.

They are high in vitamin C and other nutrients that help the body fight illness and stay active during the day.

Green foods are also very important. Vegetables and fruits like broccoli, spinach, kale, cucumbers, peas, and green apples contain chlorophyll, iron, and vitamin K. These help our bones stay strong, support the liver in cleaning the body, and improve our blood quality.

Blue and purple foods like blueberries, blackberries, eggplants, plums, and purple grapes are full of strong antioxidants such as anthocyanins and resveratrol. These protect the brain, help improve memory, reduce inflammation, and slow down aging.

White foods may not look colorful, but they are still full of health benefits. Garlic, onions, cauliflower, and mushrooms help fight viruses and bacteria, improve immunity, and help control cholesterol and blood pressure.

Eating a colorful plate every day is not just about looks. It helps our body work better in many ways. Every color supports a different part of the body such as the heart, brain, eyes, skin, bones, and immune system. When we mix all these colors into our meals, we feel better, have more energy, and stay healthier. For children, it is also a fun way to learn about healthy eating and to enjoy trying new fruits and vegetables.

Try to ask yourself every day: How many colors are on my plate?
