“My experience on this project was nothing short of amazing.
Malta, as a country is so beautiful, and I was able to see many amazing historic buildings, and even take a swim in a crystal clear sea. The hosts were amazing, helping us with everything we needed. The training itself was such an innovative and dynamic experience, and the lecturers were very inspiring. But most important of this trip for me has to be the people I was able to meet. For some of them, I can safely say that I have made friends for life. Seeing cultures from 8 different countries and their way of thinking was something I never came across earlier. After this project we have a chance to network, stay in touch and collab in future projects. I can’t wait for the next stage in Ukraine!” – Nedžad Zahiragić
“Since high school, I have always had a wide spectrum of interests, ranging from math and science, to business and social sciences. Furthermore, I was usually the one to outperform in all of those areas. However, that expanding of knowledge into breadth presented the greatest challenge to me at the point when I was about to choose a university, and thus (as I thought then) my future career path. Suddenly, I have found myself feeling lost, pressured by the thought that I must choose one path that will suit me (or not) the rest of my life.
However, after accepted my current identity of a student of Information Technology, I have started looking for more opportunities, because although at the moment I did not know what I want, I have always known what I don’t want – sitting at one place, working fixed hours, minimal opportunities to learn and grow personally, and professionally. Whether that would be a renowned physician, programmer, or any other potential future millionaire, as long as work is static, physically, and mentally, that simply was not my cup of tea.
Therefore, I have started looking for the opportunities that would best match my profile and through which I could put my knowledge and skills, gained so far, into practical useful call to action. One of those opportunities was BRAVO’s recent open call for the project “Economic Inclusion of Social Minorities” on Malta. My Erasmus experience has started with the fear of the unknown, and finished with the confidence, and new dimension of self-awareness. The journey has led me through the portals that I have never been fully aware of, people from different backgrounds, of different nationalities, and cultures, all coexisting as one. There, I have found out how little I know about the world outside Bosnian boundaries, and how we can make mutually beneficial relationships between different worlds, merging them into one safe, loving, and supportive place of co-working, and co-living. The best example of such an environment I have found is the sunny Malta, whose sun, no matter all the turbulent history, still brightly shines, and whose people, just as their language, are impacted by all, but owned by none. Unique in their breadth, variety, warmth, and openness for new.
For me this was an eye-opening experience, showcasing me how many social problems are globally widespread, related to integration, social injustice, corruption, global unemployment, etc., and how few of them are adequately addressed. But more importantly, it has enlightened me with the new level of awareness of all the opportunities lying inside each of those problems, opportunity for contribution, collaboration, and for me most importantly, the opportunity to leave the impact, your signature on the global stage called the World.
Because of that, I want to thank BRAVO, its HR, and management team, for recognizing potential in me, and selecting me as the participant for this memorable, for me transformative project, that I will not just remember, but continue to live further in my everyday life. Also, special thanks to Malta, IAIS, the organizational and coordination team that welcomed and hosted us, as well as warm local people who have treated us with the greatest possible hospitality, and warmth. The best recommendations for all who want to visit Malta!” – Selma Đozić
