AIM OF THE PROJECT
The topic we aim to explore in this initiative is the impact of digital technologies on the environment. This idea emerged from discussions among a group of international volunteers who recognized a significant gap in knowledge regarding this issue. They observed that, despite the rapid advancement and widespread adoption of digital technologies, there is a general lack of awareness about their environmental consequences. Additionally, there appears to be a limited interest in critically examining this topic, as digital transformation is predominantly perceived as a positive development and is actively promoted as one of the key priorities within European policies.
Through this Youth Exchange, we seek to deepen our understanding of the environmental footprint of digital technologies, exploring aspects such as energy consumption, electronic waste, and resource depletion. Furthermore, we aim to develop effective strategies for communicating these concerns within our local communities, fostering greater awareness and encouraging responsible digital practices. By addressing this overlooked issue, we hope to contribute to a more sustainable approach to digitalization and inspire meaningful discussions on balancing technological progress with environmental responsibility.
PARTICIPANTS PROFILE
- This Youth Exchange is open to all youth aged 16-25, who are interested in the topic of “CLICK Green” project. It is open for participants of all gender identities, and for those who can express themselves in basic English. Participants should also be willing to proactively look for the opportunities to share the newly acquired knowledge and experience with people in their local communities – e.g. by organizing workshops, presentations, writing articles, etc.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD & TRAVELLING
- Accommodation: Jönköping / Brittebo campsite
- Participants will stay in rooms of 2 people or more, and will be mixed internationally. The food served at the accommodation will mostly be vegetarian, but there will be alternatives during breakfast and some of the meals for meat-eaters. Other dietary preferences or allergies will be taken into account as well. The information on the travel arrangements as well as how to reach the venue will be shared with the selected participants.
