We are happy to announce that on January 15, 2025, the online pre-kickoff meeting was held for the GENDERWISE project that brought together partners from six European countries – Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, Greece, Portugal, and Ukraine.
This virtual gathering marked the official beginning of the project and set the stage for its main mission, which is to promote gender equality and support dual careers for young female athletes aged 14 to 26.
The meeting provided an opportunity for partners to introduce themselves, discuss the project’s objectives, and establish a collaborative framework for the coming months. Key topics included the development of educational resources, the creation of an innovative web platform, and the formation of virtual communities to support young female athletes in their personal and professional growth.
Collaboration and Shared Vision
During the pre-kickoff, project partners shared insights and strategies, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in addressing systemic challenges in the sports sector. A central focus was clarifying roles and responsibilities to ensure transparent and effective teamwork. This groundwork will enable the project to move forward cohesively, with all partners contributing their expertise.
The GENDERWISE project aims to address critical disparities in sports leadership, where women occupy only 14% of decision-making roles in sports federations across the EU. By providing young female athletes with essential leadership skills through comprehensive educational modules and mentorship, the project is going to create a more inclusive sports environment.

The GENDERWISE project is a 30-month initiative aligned with the European Commission’s goals for promoting gender equality in sports. Key deliverables of project include six educational modules, 24 MOOC materials, and a mentoring program designed to support 120 young female athletes and 44 mentees directly.
