In a world where the role of media has been so great that a term ‘mediacracy’ (the rule of media) has been frequently used to describe it, the need for media literacy and media activism for young people and youth NGOs is apparent.
With that aim, MEDIActive Youth Network is inviting interested participants to enroll in a 10-lesson online media literacy course in English.
The course is part of an Erasmus+ grant in the field of youth and is implemented alongside a consortium from 13 European countries.
Each topic typically comprises a short reading, presentation, a quiz and links for additional reading. The participants will be familiarized with the key concepts for understanding, interpreting and creating messages and articles that we receive and send via mass media; empowered to take a critical, active citizen and socially responsible role towards the contemporary media landscape, and trained to produce articles in English of publishable quality.
Previous knowledge is not required. The course content is diverse, providing basic information for participants without previous knowledge, as well as more in-depth and complex educative and writing tasks for experienced authors. During the course, all participants will be encouraged to identify a topic related to youth problems-policy, and mentored to produce a 1000- 1500 words article to be published at TYM.
Places are limited to 1 or 2 persons per partner organisations. The course will start in mid April; exact date and time of the Zoom classes will be jointly agreed subsequently, in acordance with the interested participants’ preferences.
We will get back to you as soon as possible!
