On September 30, 2024, participants of the project “Sustainable ImPACT” organized an impactful workshop for 14 young participants at “Smajić Priroda,” a beautiful nature-surrounded location designed to foster creativity and collaboration. The workshop was aimed at young people aged 17 to 25 and focused on addressing the pressing issue of overproduction and its negative impact on the environment. This event was a key part of a broader initiative dedicated to empowering young individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.
The goal of the project is to build a society that prioritizes sustainability and resource efficiency, beginning with the youth. By equipping young people and youth workers with essential skills, the project aims to create a ripple effect, encouraging sustainable practices within their communities. In doing so, the hope is to inspire positive change that will benefit future generations and help mitigate the ongoing environmental crises.
The workshop kicked off with an in-depth session on the three largest pollutants impacting the environment today. Participants gained valuable insights into the major environmental challenges facing the world and their harmful effects on ecosystems and human health. This provided a strong foundation for the rest of the day, as it helped participants understand the real-world implications of unsustainable practices.
Following the informative session, participants had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities by creating eco-friendly products, known as “eco.halea.” Working in pairs, they applied the knowledge they had gained, translating theory into practical, tangible action. This experience helped solidify their understanding of sustainability in a creative and meaningful way.
The outdoor component of the workshop featured energizers and interactive tasks that further reinforced the day’s lessons. Participants also used an app called Actionbound, which they helped develop. This innovative app made the learning experience engaging and practical, allowing participants to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world situations.
By the end of the workshop, the participants left not only with new knowledge but with a strong sense of responsibility as future changemakers, equipped to lead the charge in creating a greener, more sustainable future.
