FREE TO BE

The general aim of the project is to prevent homophobic cyber-bullying among young people: a form of bullying that takes place over digital devices and platforms like mobile phones, computers, social media and tablets perpetrated against LGBTQI youth (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intrasexual). The main object will be reached through the attainment of the following specific objectives:

1. Promotion of a respectful language used through digital devices and platforms referred to LGBTQI;
2. Spreading a respectful and appropriate language against LGBTQI, particularly in the use of internet and social media;
3. Creating a permanent network of youth association and Youth Workers to promote prevention and raise awareness on the theme of the homophobic cyber-bulling.

Specifically, the proposal virtual activities involve youth workers giving them the opportunity to develop a virtual exchange project with other colleagues from different countries.

Thanks to the project, youth workers will come true factors of change preventing homophobic cyber-bullying by guiding and supporting young people inside and outside the consortium.

On April 13, 2024, the virtual workshop “Promoting Intercultural Dialogue Online Among Youth” took place, facilitated by “BRAVO” in collaboration with “GAYCS”. Supported and co-funded by the Erasmus+ program, this workshop aimed to address the pressing issue of homophobic cyberbullying targeting LGBTQI youth.

Training Course “Promoting Intercultural Dialogue Online Among Youth”

On Saturday November 25th, 2023, the virtual Training Course “Promoting Intercultural Dialogue Online Among Youth” was held in the scope of the FREE TO BE project. Youth workers from Italy, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Albania, and Montenegro came together to improve their competences on how to promote intercultural dialogue online.

KICK-OFF MEETING OF “FREE TO BE” – Tirana, Albania

From the 11th to the 13th of September 2023, a vibrant mix of youth workers, activists, and stakeholders converged in the picturesque city of Tirana, Albania, for the kick-off meeting of the project “FREE TO BE”. The objective? To foster a cyberspace where everyone, irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity, feels secure, respected, and valued.
