BRAVO BiH

As partners on the „Cooperation“ project BRAVO played a role in the realization of the 32. Ski Festival held in Kopaonik from March 19th to March 23rd 2025. This event was a combination of physical activity, games and workshops that include both areas of socialization, sense of belonging, emotional intelligence, but also raising awareness of ecology with the emphasis of course on snow sports.

This year’s program activities saw the participation of nearly 500 individuals – a diverse group encompassing sports enthusiasts, recreational athletes, sports organizations, experts, and employees from companies and local administrations. These participants arrived from Romania, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia.

Promoting friendships and emphasizing the significance of regular physical activity, the festival program featured alpine skiing competitions across five categories on the “Karaman greben” trail, alongside alpine orienteering and darts. The sports valley’s snow polygon also hosted engaging competitions in arm wrestling, snow volleyball, tug-of-war, and the “Basket for a Clean Kop” environmental action.

Furthermore, Nataša Janković and Sara Đurković from the Olympic Committee of Serbia designed a special segment with diverse activities to raise awareness for the upcoming European Week of Sport (EWOS). The afternoon saw participants engaging in a snowshoeing activity as part of the program. As part of the educational segment of the program, in collaboration with the Serbian Association of Snow Sports Teachers and Coaches and the Snow Stars Team Ski School, 60 participants successfully completed a three-day free ski school program.

As part of the COOPERATION project the first Mountain Games for children were successfully hosted on this years Ski Festival. With the aim of including children from socio-economically challenged regions of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as children with disabilities and special needs this event featured a range of events for children aged 4 to 14 from diverse communities in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia.

Bravo is extremely grateful to have had the chance to be part of this inspiring initiative and we are proud of the contribution we were able to make to this project. Stay tuned form more.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Promoting sports and emphasizing their significance in daily life encourages social inclusion and well-being for all ages, genders, and backgrounds. The project uses sports to educate children and youth, instill good values, and train sports workers and coaches.

The main goals are to build basic groups, share best practices from other countries, promote social inclusion through sports (focusing on children with developmental disabilities and those facing disadvantages), and foster positive values such as team spirit. Youth and sports professionals will benefit from the transfer of expert knowledge.

The project will hold workshops, events, and programs that use sports for informal education and advocate for changes in public policy and legislation. The project will target various populations to address the often-overlooked importance of physical activity in public health policies.

The Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity, and Health emphasizes the importance of school policies and programs that promote healthy habits and physical exercise for children, youth, and the community. Sports improve motor skills, confidence, and resilience in children with disabilities and special needs. Physical education and school sports encourage physical exercise and an active lifestyle, enhancing public health. Sports can prevent diseases, improve mental and cognitive health, and engage older adults.

This project will use non-traditional educational methods to create engaging activities and events that teach people about inclusion, gender equality, and healthy habits through sports. This approach demonstrates that sports can be inclusive, innovative, and creative for different learners and communities.
