Combating Hate Speech by Art and Creative Writing Project in Pogradec, Albania
The time has come to summarize the impressions of our four wonderful volunteers who spent 9 days in Albania on a project called Combating Hate Speech by Art and Creative Writing.
Training course “Combating Hate Speech by Art and Creative Writing” was held from 23rd July to 31st July in Pogradec, Albania. Main aim of this training course was to improve partners’ abilities to use creative writing and art to combat hate speech both online and offline.
Volunteers Amina, Sheila, Emir and Semina, in addition to the above, had the opportunity to visit the surrounding places and even to celebrate Sheila’s birthday in one of the places. They unanimously agreed that it was great for them and that they learned a lot of useful information.
Some of the project’s goals included:
- Developing the skills of youth workers and educators to design and deliver activities based on creative writing and art in order to combat online and offline hate speech, particularly that directed at young people;

- Increasing the ability of youth workers and educators to use creative writing and art in the process of raising awareness about hate speech both online and offline
The participants not only had a terrific time full of joy, happiness, and memories, but they also gained a lot of important knowledge and skills that they can utilize in their own lives and at their non-profit organizations. Positive cultural shock, fantastic facilitators and activities, extending horizons, open mind, and new wonderful friendships are all among the participants’ thoughts on the training course.
