We are pleased to announce the selected participants for the Youth Exchange “Roots of Change”, which will take place from 4 July to 12 July 2026 in Segovia, Spain.
This project is hosted by Proyecto Kieu in collaboration with the sending organization BRAVO, and is supported and co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The exchange will bring together young people from across Europe who are motivated to contribute to environmental sustainability, intercultural dialogue, and active citizenship.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
“Roots of Change” is an international Erasmus+ youth exchange focused on sustainability, environmental awareness, and social responsibility. The project creates a safe and inclusive space where young people can reflect on Europe’s shared history, recognize patterns of hate and discrimination, and promote tolerance, empathy, and peace.
The exchange will gather around 48 participants from different European countries, fostering collaboration across cultures and backgrounds.
Through non-formal education methods, participants will engage in:
- eco-workshops and debates,
- local environmental actions such as gardening and sustainability practices,
- intercultural evenings and cultural exchange activities,
- reflection sessions and group discussions,
- teamwork and community-based learning experiences.
SELECTED PARTICIPANTS
Representing BRAVO and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the following individuals have been selected to participate in this international youth exchange:

- Azra Osmanbegović
- Bakir Destanović
- Tanja Knežević
The participants were selected based on their motivation, interest in environmental and social topics, readiness to engage in intercultural learning, and commitment to contributing actively throughout the project.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Through this youth exchange, participants will:
- increase awareness of sustainability and environmental responsibility,
- reflect on social challenges such as discrimination and hate patterns,
- strengthen intercultural understanding and European identity,
- develop key competences such as teamwork, communication, and critical thinking,
- build international networks and long-term cooperation,
- actively engage in local and international community initiatives.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
The project is designed for:
- young people aged 18–30,
- individuals motivated to participate in volunteer and community-based activities,
- participants interested in sustainability, social impact, and European values,
- young people willing to actively engage in all phases of the project.
Participants are expected to:
- actively contribute to all activities,
- work in international teams,
- share experiences and perspectives,
- support dissemination and follow-up activities after the exchange.
Accommodation, Food & Travel
Participants will be accommodated in a youth hostel in the Segovia region, surrounded by nature, offering shared rooms, common spaces, and outdoor areas for activities.
Travel costs, accommodation, and meals are fully covered in accordance with Erasmus+ rules. Participants choosing green travel options (such as train, bus, or carpooling) may receive additional support.
All participants are required to keep original travel documents (tickets, boarding passes, invoices) for reimbursement purposes.
About the Hosting Organization
Proyecto Kieu is an organization focused on youth development, social transformation, and intercultural education, using tools such as art and theatre to promote inclusion and community engagement.
Their work is centered on empowering young people and fostering sustainable human development through creative and educational initiatives.
About the Location
Segovia is a historic city in central Spain and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its Roman aqueduct, medieval architecture, and rich cultural heritage. The city offers a unique environment that combines history, nature, and cultural diversity, providing an inspiring setting for intercultural learning.
