BRAVO BiH

Our project is based on data about how COVID-19 affected young people in Europe. Here are the key points, in plain words:

  • Mental health got worse. Before COVID-19, about 10–20% of children and teens had mental-health problems. In the last two years, that rose to 20–25%. Other surveys show very high stress and depression among people aged 18–29.

  • Jobs were hit harder for youth. EU surveys found more job loss for people under 30 than for older groups. Youth unemployment was highest in summer 2020, and youth jobs had not fully recovered by spring 2021 (especially in Mediterranean countries).

  • Recovery was uneven. In April 2022, 16 of 27 EU countries still had youth employment below where it was in late 2019.

  • Isolation and the digital gap grew. Many young people lacked devices, internet, or the skills to learn online. Lockdowns cut social contact and delayed plans, which hurt wellbeing and increased social exclusion, especially for those without family support.
  • What this means for our project

Because of these problems, our project sets clear goals and targets: build critical thinking and media literacy, improve digital and soft skills, and promote EU values and active citizenship. We will run six rounds of activities from 2023–2025 to reach these goals and at least 500 young people (with at least 250 facing extra barriers).

    Why virtual exchange?

Online exchange is not a quick fix; it is a useful complement to physical mobility. It lets more young people join international, intercultural learning—especially when travel is hard—and keeps dialogue going during disruptions.

No experience is needed. Everyone is welcome!
